The Lord Jesus said, “I give you eternal life” and it is true because He is with the eternal God (John 10:30). Eternity is of unlimited duration, the book of Revelation says in Revelation 21:25 “And its gates shall never be shut by day — and there shall be no night there.” Since there is never night in that place but is always day, and there will never be an end to its existence. In Psalms 90:2, the Psalmist speaks by inspiration concerning God and the Eternity which He inhabits by saying, “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting thou art God.” He has always been and will always be God in eternal (without a limit of duration) living. Jesus said to those who follow him “I give to them eternal life and they will never perish” (John 10:28). He is one with the Father who is greater than all. Therefore an obedient believer will never perish. Their eternal life begins with their rising from the water of baptism into a new life (Romans 6:4). Living in Christ (the new life) continues through death into eternal life with Him in heaven.
