STUDY THE BIBLE – GOD’S WORD

Musick-al note # 134

God speaks to us today through His Son (Hebrews 1:1-2).  The New Testament is the Word that He has given for us to study and know His will. Jesus told His disciples that the Holy Spirit would guide them into all truth (John 14:26, 16:7-16).  Those men wrote His words for us to have after they died (2 Peter 1:12-16, 3:1-2).  Paul stated that anyone who was spiritual would recognize that his writings were the commands of the Lord (1 Corinthians 14:37).  It is God’s Word and given to direct man throughout this life that he may walk with Him in the eternal realms.

Since one hears the Word of the Lord (through study of the New Testament) then that person must read and study the New Testament again and again to differentiate His Word from the teachings of man.  God desires that we be saved and has given His Word to that end (2 Peter 3:9, John 20:31).  If we are still confused or do not know God’s will, it is our lack of study or we are being led astray by false teachers who are confusing us.  We say therefore, “Study the Word”, commit it to memory and learn to handle it properly and make it the center of your heart (2 Timothy 2:15) for it will give you all that you need for spiritual advancement (2 Peter 1:3, 2 Timothy 3:16-17).  Do not follow the doctrines of men (any teaching that is not revealed in the New Testament or is different from its words) because such teachings will only render your worship vain (Matthew 15:9).  Such teachings (doctrines) pervert (change) the Gospel and cause its followers to come under the curse of God (Galatians 1:6-9).  There are many who do not obey the Gospel because of their failure to study the Word that they might know God and follow the truth (2 Thessalonians 1:6-10).  Again let me say to you, “Make it your aim to ‘study the Word’ that you might know and obey the God of heaven.
