ONE’S DESTINY IN REFUSING CHRIST

Musick-al note # 115

We do not even want to think about this question or its answer.  Yet continuing to avoid facing the truth does not change our situation nor our destiny in eternity. It is unethical for a writer to eschew knowledge of and shirk one’s responsibility to teach and warn everyone of a coming disaster in failure to obey the teaching of the Scriptures. God’s Word is very explicit in regard to those who refuse to follow His Son, Jesus Christ.  According to many verses, they will be lost to exist in an eternal Hell (Matthew 7:13-23, Matthew 23:33, 25:41-46, John 14:6, Acts 4:12, Romans 6:23, and many others).  All people would rather speak only of God’s love and peace with eternal bliss to come and never considering that obedience is necessary to avoid the coming judgment with eternal punishment being the outcome. We must consider carefully such verses as Matthew 25:31-46.

Consider also what the Apostle Paul said in 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9,  “When the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.  These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power.” Again, he wrote in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor Sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.”

Read also about the glory and blessings of the eternal city of God in Revelation 21:1-26, then think about verses 8 and 27. “But the fearful, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, whoremongers, sorcerers, idolaters and all liars will be in the lake of fire and brimstone, which is the second death.  Nothing that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie will enter, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.”  We become children of God when we obey the Gospel of Christ (Galatians 3:26-27) and our names are written in the book of life.  To deny and refuse to obey Christ is to choose God’s vengeance and everlasting destruction in eternal death (2 Thessalonians 1:8-9). To obey Him is the better choice for in him one can have eternal blessings in His presence.
