Hell is not the grave as some teach and many believe. Hell is beyond the grave for Jesus said in Matthew 10:28, “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also in Matthew 25:46 “And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Hell was prepared for the Devil and his angels, “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels”. (Matthew 25:41). Paul said, “The Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power.” (2 Thessalonians 1:8-12). Finally in Revelation 20:10, 14-15, “And the devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” Study also Luke 16:19-31 of Jesus teaching concerning the state and destiny of man after death. The rich man was in hell being in torment and his state could not be changed. A great gulf separated him from Abraham that could not be crossed. Yes, according to the Bible there is a hell and it is separated from Heaven in the place where God has prepared it. After death, it is impossible to change one’s place. Seek the Way of salvation that is found by obeying Christ Jesus and enjoy the blessings that God has prepared in heaven for those who prepare themselves for it (Matthew 7:13-27).
