#6 – KNOWING GOD – HIS GREAT LOVE
God’s love has been displayed, expressed, manifested to us and proven by His actions. He made the world and all that is in it and has given it all into man’s hand. The air, earth, all living creatures are for man’s pleasure and use. He also wants to bless us spiritually. God’s greatest expression of His love was expressed in giving His Son as seen in John 3:16, “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes on Him should not perish but have everlasting life”. His giving was done even while we were sinners (Romans 5:8), yet Christ died for us to deliver us from eternal death. Such love began with God for God is love and His love was manifested toward us in that He gave His Son to be the propitiation for our sins (1John 4:9), thus as Peter said in 2 Peter 3:9, “God is not willing that any should perish but that all come to repentance”. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) so all must repent or die in sin (Luke 13:3, 5). God has always desired that men turn from sin to do His will as shown by His words to Cain in Genesis 4:6-8, “If you do well, you will be accepted, otherwise sin will own you unless you overcome it”. Over and over, again and again, God has sought to bless man whom He created and promised to bless them when they obeyed Him. God has always taught that people must keep His commandments to receive His blessings nor has He ever turned from those who obeyed Him. He kept sending Godly men to direct and teach His will to all people, but most turn from Him to selfishness and godless living. Jesus came into the world to save the lost (Luke 19:10). Even being rejected by His own people, He still promises to give eternal salvation to everyone who believes and obeys Him (John 1:11-13, Hebrews 1:11-13, Hebrews 5:9).
